Man Shares Shocking Experience That Made Him Stop Giving Strangers Rides in the Rain

A man has gone viral after recounting a disturbing encounter that changed his habit of picking up stranded strangers during heavy rainfall in Enugu State.

He said the incident happened in 2023 while driving along Zik Avenue during a downpour, when he noticed a woman standing in the rain and decided to offer her a lift to China Town bus stop.

According to him, the only conversation during the ride was when he asked where she was going:

“Nne, kedu ebe ina aga?” meaning “Where are you going?”

He explained that upon reaching the destination, instead of leaving the car, the woman allegedly demanded ₦5,000 and accused him of “using her” if he refused to pay.

She told me if I didn’t pay her, she would shout and tell people I booked her as an ashawo and refused to pay,” he claimed.

Feeling pressured and fearing public embarrassment, he said he eventually gave her ₦3,000 after finding money in his vehicle. He added that the experience left him shocked and discouraged him from ever offering free rides to strangers during rainfall again.
