A man has triggered mixed reactions online after criticizing his estate’s decision to replace male security guards with two female officers stationed at the main gate.
In a social media post shared in a humorous tone, the unidentified resident said he no longer feels comfortable or safe since the change was made. He claimed the new arrangement, introduced just days ago, was initially assumed to be temporary until it became clear it was permanent.
According to him, the estate had previously experienced occasional theft incidents even when male guards were on duty, but the introduction of female guards made him uneasy rather than reassured.
He wrote:
“My estate replaced the gate security from men to two women and I haven’t felt safe since. Nobody should use my life and play gender equality with me. As an upcoming Alpha male, I cannot sleep comfortably with women watching over me.”
The resident also added that although he rarely attends estate meetings, he now intends to participate in the next scheduled gathering to formally raise his concerns.
Mixed Reactions Online
The post quickly went viral, drawing a split response from social media users.
Some users found the statement exaggerated and humorous, mocking the “alpha male” framing and suggesting that competence, not gender, should determine security roles.
Others strongly defended the presence of female security personnel, pointing out that women already serve effectively in the military, police, and private security sectors both in Nigeria and globally.
A section of commenters also argued that security effectiveness depends more on training, vigilance, and professionalism than physical gender stereotypes.
