First Lady, Aisha Buhari expected to testify against student who trolled her on Twitter

Aisha Buhari, the First Lady, is expected to testify against Aminu Mohammed, a student at the Federal University of Dutse in Jigawa who criticized her on Twitter. Aisha is one of five witnesses named by the prosecution to testify against Mohammed in court.

Meanwhile, the police claimed that the defamation and cyberstalking offense violated Section 391 of the Penal Code.

“That you Aminu Adamu, male of Anguwar Sarakuna, Bauch, Bauchi state sometime between May – June 2022 within the jurisdiction of this Honorable court did intentionally open a Twitter Handle with the name @aminullahie Catalyst and screenshot the image of Her Excellency Hajia Aisha Buhari,” the one-count charge against the student reads.

Aminu Adamu, a student at the Federal University of Dutse, has been remanded in the Suleja correctional facility in Niger State after being arrested for trolling Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari’s wife, Aisha Buhari, on Twitter.

According to his lawyer, C.K Agu, he was remanded on Tuesday, 29th November 2022 after the police charged him in court.

Mr. Adamu, a final-year student, tweeted a photo of Mrs. Buhari with the caption “Mama is feeding fat on poor people’s money.”

The tweet was sent on June 9, but Mr. Adamu was arrested earlier this month after it went viral.
