Rivers: Police arrest man over the deaths of two people on election day

Detectives from the Egbeda Police Division in Rivers State’s Emohua Local Government Area arrested James, an alleged repentant cultist, in connection with the death of two people in Ubimini Community last weekend.

James, also known as “Cross and Die,” is accused of orchestrating the crisis that erupted in the Ubimini community during the Presidential and National Assembly elections, killing a pregnant woman, Ruth Osage, and a member of a local vigilante group, Mark Orduize.

Ikechukwu Wordu, President of Ubimini Youth Council, confirmed the development.

He stated that James, a repentant cultist, returned to his old life and was apprehended based on credible intelligence.

He is being held at the Egbeda Police Division. Wordu accused James of recruiting and arming boys for nefarious activities in the community, which resulted in his attempted arrest by vigilante members and the death of a pregnant woman.

SP Grace Iringe-Koko, Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, has yet to respond to the development.

Iringe-Koko confirmed the killing on Saturday, February 25, during the Presidential and National Assembly elections in Ubimini.

She stated that efforts were being made to bring the perpetrators to justice, but that the death was unrelated to election violence.
