A mother of two has gone viral on social media after a simple request for ₦1,300 transport fare attracted millions of naira in donations from well-wishers.
The woman, identified on X (formerly Twitter) as @bidex31, had appealed for financial assistance and shared her account details while seeking help.
In a follow-up post, she revealed that her OPay account quickly reached its receiving limit of ₦500,000, an amount she said she never imagined receiving.
One of the most notable donations came from an X user who sent her ₦500,000 as a birthday gift.
Providing more details about her family’s situation, the woman disclosed that her husband is a graduate of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, where he studied Computer Science and Engineering.
According to her, her husband currently works as a teacher in a private school, earning ₦40,000 monthly while teaching Mathematics, Physics, and Basic Science.
“My husband is also a teacher, a private school teacher, who teaches Mathematics, Physics and Basic Science for ₦40,000. He is a graduate of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology. Studied Computer Science and Engineering,” she wrote.
The woman also reflected on how long it had been since she last handled a significant amount of money.
“The last time I saw ₦300,000 at once in my life was in 2019. Since then, I haven’t had that kind of money in my hands again,” she stated.
Her story has since sparked widespread reactions online, with many users expressing sympathy for the family’s situation, while others highlighted the power of social media in providing support during difficult times.
