Buhari mourns the death of 41 vigilantes killed by terrorists

President Muhammadu Buhari condemned the weekend attack on vigilantes at Yargoje forest in Katsina’s Kankara Local Government Area, which claimed many lives.

According to the Katsina State Police Command, 41 members of local vigilance groups, “Yansakai,” were killed in an ambush by terrorists in Yargoje forest on Friday.

The terrorists ambushed a convoy of vigilantes on their way to recover stolen cows in the forest, leading to the killings.

In response, Buhari paid tribute to all those martyred vigilantes and family members, saying that the sacrifices of the brave men working to stop and punish crime in their communities will not be forgotten.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by Buhari’s media aide, Garba Shehu, on Sunday.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families in this difficult period. May Allah repose the soul of the deceased,” the President said
