Young Wife Serves Spoiled Food to Husband’s Friend From Canada, Seeks Advice After Guest Checks Into Hotel

A young married woman has shared an embarrassing experience after unknowingly serving spoiled food to her husband’s visiting friend from Canada.

The woman, who asked to remain anonymous, said the incident happened after her husband informed her that his best friend would be visiting Nigeria for an event in Abuja and would stay at their home for two days.

According to her, her husband gave her ₦60,000 to prepare a good meal for the visitor. However, she admitted that she kept the money because she had earlier asked her husband for money and he claimed he did not have any.

She explained that she had fried rice she prepared about two nights earlier and stored in the freezer. Rather than cook a fresh meal, she bought half a kilo of meat, prepared it and reheated the rice for the guest.

Unfortunately, she later discovered that the rice had gone bad.

The visitor reportedly tasted the food once and immediately stopped eating. Her husband also tasted it, spat it out and confronted her in front of his friend.

She said her husband became upset after learning that she had used old rice despite receiving money to cook something fresh.

The situation became more embarrassing when the visitor decided to stay in a nearby hotel instead of remaining in their home.

According to the woman, her husband later revealed that the friend had been helping them process plans to relocate to Canada through school.

She said she was shocked because she had not been aware of the arrangement.

The woman is now asking whether she should call the visitor to apologise or prepare a fresh meal and take it to his hotel in an attempt to redeem herself.

Reactions:

“She should apologise sincerely, but taking food to the hotel may make things worse.”

“The food may have spoiled by mistake, but keeping the money meant for the visitor was the real issue.”

“Her husband should not have insulted her in front of his friend, but she also needs to accept responsibility.”

“A simple apology message is enough. The friend has already chosen a hotel, so respect his space.”

“This is why honesty matters in marriage. The issue was not just the rice; it was the decision to keep the money.”
