Angela Okorie has stirred mixed reactions after revealing that she destroyed the outfit she wore to the burial of late actor Alexx Ekubo.
The actress said she acted on advice from her godmother, who told her it was not proper to keep clothes worn to a burial ceremony.
Sharing the outfit on her Instagram Stories, Angela wrote:
“This is the outfit I wore to Alex’s burial. My Godmother said it is not good to have cloth you wore to a burial around you. You burn them.”
She also shared footage showing the outfit being burned and encouraged her followers, friends and family members to take note of the belief.
Angela added prayers for long life and protection, saying she had only recently learned about the practice and felt it was important to pass the information along.
Her post generated debate online, with some people saying they were familiar with similar traditions, while others questioned why she chose to share the act publicly.
Alexx Ekubo was laid to rest on June 18 in Arochukwu, Abia State, following his death after complications from advanced metastatic kidney cancer.
