A woman has sparked laughter online after recounting the dramatic and humorous moment her sister went into full labour—right after being chased by a monkey at a private hospital.
The incident, which reportedly happened recently, quickly went viral on social media, leaving many Nigerians amused and stunned by the bizarre turn of events.
According to her narration, her sister—who was expecting her second child—had noticed early signs of labour but remained unusually calm. Confident from her previous experience, she went about her day doing house chores, cooking, and even taking time to dress up and apply makeup before heading to the hospital.
“She said she already knew the baby was coming, but as a second-time mum, she felt like a professional. She was doing house chores, cleaning, cooking, and even did her makeup like someone going for a wedding,” the woman said.
However, things took an unexpected twist upon arrival at the hospital. Because of her composed appearance, doctors reportedly doubted she was in active labour and advised her to take a walk around the premises for light exercise.
That decision quickly backfired.
“While walking, she saw a monkey in the next compound. Suddenly, it started running towards her. My sister ran for her life, and by the time she got back to the hospital door, she felt the baby’s head already coming out,” she added.
She explained that medical staff immediately rushed her sister into the labour room, where she safely delivered the baby.
The unusual story has since sparked reactions online, with many joking that the monkey “assisted” in the delivery, while others shared similar stories of sudden movements accelerating labour.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time such a case has been reported. In 2021, a similar incident in Lagos made headlines after sudden physical activity reportedly triggered a rapid delivery.
