A Nigerian man based in the United Kingdom has reportedly left his wife devastated after allegedly taking over £20,000 from her ajo savings—meant for their house project—and using it to marry another woman in Nigeria.
The shocking story, shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @boye4christ2006, has stirred massive reactions online as social media users expressed outrage and disbelief over the alleged betrayal.
According to the viral post, the couple had been living together in the UK while sharing financial responsibilities. The wife reportedly handled food expenses, while the husband covered other household bills.
Over time, the husband allegedly proposed a 50:50 contribution system and encouraged his wife to join an ajo savings plan, claiming the money would be used to complete their house project in Nigeria.
Trusting her husband’s intentions, the wife reportedly agreed and consistently contributed to the savings.
In March 2026, she allegedly handed over more than £20,000 from the ajo funds to him.
However, instead of returning to the UK after travelling to Nigeria, the husband allegedly used the money to finish the house project and married another wife.
Reports claim he later informed his wife in the UK that he had no plans to return.
The viral post read:
“Nigeria couple came into the UK
Wife is paying for food
Husband was handling the other bills
Husband said wife is saving enough money that they should do 50:50
Wife declined. Husband said wife should start ajo
That they will use it to finish their house project in Nigeria. Wife agreed
On March 2026, wife gave husband ajo of over £20k plus
Husband went down to Nigeria, married another wife
Completed the house
Told wife in the UK that he is not coming back
Plenty things dey happen ooo.”
The alleged incident has since sparked heated conversations online, with many condemning the man’s actions and sympathizing with the woman.
Social media reactions:
@AdebayoWrites: “This is beyond wickedness. Some betrayals are unforgivable.”
@NaijaQueen: “She trusted her husband and he used her life savings to start another family? Painful.”
@RealistNG: “This is why financial transparency in marriage is so important.”
@MamaTee: “This woman deserves justice. Such cruelty is heartbreaking.”
@KingSoro: “Marriage should never be a scam. This is pure manipulation.”
