The kidnappers of Benue Commissioner demand N5 million

The kidnappers of Ekpe Ogbu, the Benue State Commissioner of Housing and Urban Development, have demanded a N5 million ransom from his family.

According to a family member, the abductors were able to contact the commissioner’s family via his driver’s phone.

“Yes, the kidnappers contacted the commissioner’s family via the driver’s phone and demanded N5 million,” an anonymous source said.

The Commissioner, his driver, an aide, and one other person were kidnapped on Sunday in Adankari village on the Otukpo/Ado road.

Meanwhile, four police teams have been dispatched to the area in an attempt to rescue the four people. 

According to a police source, two teams from the divisional police in Otukpo, as well as men from Operation Zenda and Safe Highway, were deployed to search the area. 

“The command has increased efforts to rescue kidnap victims by deploying two teams of our divisional police in Otukpo.”

“Men from Operation Zenda and Safe Highway have also been deployed to the area,” said a police source.
