A Nigerian man has shared a heartwarming encounter that left him deeply impressed after meeting a young student working as an Uber driver to support his education.
The story, posted on X (formerly Twitter) by user @jon_d_doe, detailed how a simple ride turned into an inspiring conversation about determination and self-reliance.
According to the post, the man had ordered an Uber and struck up a conversation with the driver during the trip. He soon discovered that the driver was not a full-time worker, but a student striving to pay his own school fees.
The student explained that he lives with his elder brother, who owns the car he was driving. Rather than sponsoring his education financially, the brother offered him a different kind of support—access to the vehicle during school holidays so he could earn money himself.
The passenger recounted the driver’s words:
“This month, I was in an Uber. The young man who drove me is a student. He was driving his brother’s car. He lives with him and he told him that he would not be paying his school fees, but that he can use the car to raise money for his school fees during holidays.”
The story has since resonated with many online, with users praising the student’s resilience and entrepreneurial spirit, as well as the brother’s unconventional approach to teaching responsibility and independence.
