Residents of Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State have voiced anger after a government delegation arrived with relief materials following a devastating terrorist attack.
According to reports, the items — which included mats, buckets, and school bags — were delivered in an ambulance. However, in a viral video circulating online, grieving residents openly rejected the supplies, describing them as grossly inadequate considering the scale of loss suffered by the community.
Some residents were heard saying:
“We don’t need these things.”
“What we want is security and the return of our people.”
The community stressed that their most urgent needs are improved security and the safe return of abducted relatives, rather than basic relief items. Many expressed frustration that the response failed to address the immediate dangers and trauma they are facing.
The backlash follows reports that over 200 people were killed in an ആക്രമation allegedly carried out by insurgents linked to Boko Haram. In addition to the mass killings, at least 176 women and children were reportedly abducted and remain in captivity.
Residents further lamented that many of those kidnapped are family members of victims who were killed, worsening the emotional and humanitarian crisis in the area.

“Rescue the abducted first! That’s what matters most right now.”
Tunde Balogun:
“Sending relief is good, but timing and relevance matter. These people need protection, not just supplies.”
