The Ogun State government has expressed regret to its residents’ employees for the delay in last month’s salary payment.
The delay was regrettable, according to a statement released by Senior Special Assistant to Governor Dapo Abiodun on New Media, Emmanuel Ojo.
Only 15 to 20 percent of the State workforce, in his estimation, had not yet received their November paychecks as of Wednesday morning.
Ojo stated that the delay was “the first of such delay since the inception of Dapo Abiodun Administration over three and half years ago” and attributed it to problems with four or five banks.
The government has begun processing and paying December salaries, according to Ojo, who also stated that employees should begin receiving credit alerts at the latest by Thursday morning.
“While the State regrets the delays in the payment of November salaries to some staff (about 15-20% of workforce) due to some hitches with about four banks, the first of such delay since the inception of Dapo Abiodun Administration over three and half years ago; the workers are assured of a blissful Christmas celebration.
“It would be recalled that the Ogun State Government is one of the few State governments that have continued to pay the national minimum wage without fail,” he said.
