Nigerian man recounts betrayal after selling phone to pay friend’s school fees

A Nigerian man has stirred emotions online after sharing a painful experience from his university days involving a close friend he tried to help.

In a post shared on his X account, he revealed that he sold his phone to raise money for his friend’s school fees, expecting nothing in return because he genuinely wanted to help.

However, instead of using the money to continue his education, the friend allegedly withdrew from the university and spent the funds on clothing and fashion accessories.

He further claimed that on the last day before the holiday break, the same friend stole his BlackBerry Curve 7 before travelling home. According to him, the friend never returned to school, and he has not heard from him since.

“On the last day before he traveled home for holidays, which he never came back from, he stole my Blackberry Curve 7 and I never heard from him till this day,” he wrote.

The story has since gone viral, with many social media users expressing sympathy while reflecting on the painful lessons that can come from misplaced trust.
