Marriage Ends After One-Month Dispute Over Phone Number Change

A marriage that reportedly lasted just one month has become a topic of debate online after a disagreement over a phone number allegedly led to the couple’s separation.

The story surfaced on X, where a woman claimed that her friend’s husband asked her to destroy her SIM card and obtain a new phone number shortly after their wedding.

According to the account, the husband believed changing her number would help her disconnect from people in her past and focus entirely on their marriage. However, the wife reportedly opposed the idea, arguing that she could not simply cut off friends, family members, and others who had been important parts of her life.

While she allegedly assured her husband of her commitment to the marriage, she maintained that being married did not mean abandoning meaningful relationships.

The disagreement reportedly escalated when the husband gave her an ultimatum, asking her to choose between him and the people in her life.

According to the story, the woman responded that she would always prioritise her husband and marriage, but insisted that doing so did not require severing ties with loved ones.

In an attempt to find common ground, she reportedly suggested that she would agree to change her SIM card if her husband was willing to do the same and cut off contacts from his own life. The proposal was allegedly rejected.

The husband reportedly argued that, as the head of the family, his wife was expected to obey his instructions without question.

The dispute eventually became a major source of tension, and the woman reportedly refused to comply with the demand. According to the post, the conflict worsened until the marriage ended barely a month after the wedding.

Reactions Online

The story sparked mixed reactions on social media, with many users debating whether the husband’s request was a reasonable boundary or an attempt to exert control over his wife.

Some argued that marriage requires transparency and sacrifices from both partners, while others maintained that asking someone to cut off family members, friends, and long-standing contacts was excessive and unhealthy.

Others pointed to the wife’s proposed compromise, saying it highlighted the importance of mutual expectations in a marriage rather than one-sided demands.

The incident has since fueled wider discussions about trust, personal independence, and the balance between commitment and individuality in relationships.
