A Nigerian man has shared an emotional story about how he discovered that the widow of his late friend was not inflating her children’s school fees as he had been led to believe.
In a post shared online, the man explained that he had been responsible for paying the children’s school fees since his friend passed away three years ago. According to him, supporting the children’s education was one of the promises he made to his late friend.
He wrote:
“Someone called me to tell me that my late friend’s wife inflated her kids’ school fees as I have been the one paying since three years that my friend departed. It was one of the promises I made.”
Concerned by the allegation, he decided not to confront the widow immediately. Instead, he contacted the children’s school to confirm the actual amount being paid.
To his surprise, the school informed him that he had actually been underpaying the fees by ₦17,000.
Shocked by the discovery, he arranged a meeting with the widow and asked why she never told him that the school fees had increased.
The widow reportedly explained that the fees had gone up, but she chose not to inform him because she did not want to add more pressure to him after all he had already done for her family.
The situation became even more emotional when the man later discovered that the allegation came from the widow’s elder sister.
After seeing the messages and call records, the widow reportedly broke down in tears.
The man eventually paid the outstanding balance and offered prayers for widows and struggling mothers.
Many people online praised him for verifying the allegation before judging the widow, noting that his actions showed maturity, kindness and respect for the promise he made to his late friend.
