“Thank surrogacy, not God” — X user sparks debate after reacting to Lateef Adedimeji and Mobimpe’s triplets

A social media user on X (formerly Twitter) has generated widespread reactions after sharing a controversial opinion following the announcement that Nollywood couple Lateef Adedimeji and Adebimpe Oyebade (Mobimpe) welcomed triplets.

The couple’s joyful news was met with excitement from fans and colleagues across social media, with many celebrating the new additions to their family.

However, one X user stirred controversy after posting:

Science will do the work, una go thank God. Thank surrogacy, not God. Congratulations to them anyways.”

The statement quickly drew mixed reactions online, especially due to the suggestion that surrogacy may have played a role in the birth.

While some users supported the idea that medical science deserves recognition in childbirth journeys, others criticized the comment as insensitive and unnecessary during what many viewed as a moment of celebration.

Social media users reacted:

Why bring this kind talk now? Na wa oo 😩”

“Some people no get filter at all. Congratulations is enough, no need for analysis.”

“Both science and faith can coexist.”

The comment has since fueled broader conversations around fertility, surrogacy, medical intervention, and religious gratitude, as many continue celebrating the couple while debating differing perspectives on childbirth.
