A user on X (@lyon970) has gone viral after sharing a heartbreaking experience that changed how she views love, trust, and financial help in relationships.
She recounted how, in 2023, she was deeply in love and fully trusted her partner when he approached her with an urgent request for ₦120,000, claiming it was for a “business deal that would change their lives.”
Believing him, she emptied her savings and gave him the money without hesitation.
But what followed was painful.
The promised two-week repayment turned into months of silence. His calls stopped connecting, messages went unanswered, and he eventually disappeared completely.
She later discovered the “business” was a lie—he had used the money for another woman and was seen living lavishly on social media while she struggled emotionally and financially.
Reflecting on the experience, she said it didn’t just cost her money, but also her trust in people.
She concluded that she has learned a lifelong lesson: never mix love with financial blind trust again.
“If I can’t give it freely without expecting it back, I won’t give it at all.”
