The man, identified as @IyelolaIge on X (formerly Twitter), revealed that the ex-course mate recently reached out to him via a phone call, requesting ₦10,000. What stunned him wasn’t the amount—but the identity of the person asking.
He recounted that during their 300-level days, the colleague was known for his affluent lifestyle. According to him, the individual had travelled abroad, owned a car, and was a regular presence in clubs, making him the envy of many students on campus.
Reflecting on the moment, he wrote:
“I was not shocked by the amount. I was shocked by who was asking. His voice didn’t sound like his Instagram. I sent it immediately. Added extra. After the call, I just sat.”
The experience left him thoughtful, prompting him to stress the importance of kindness and caution against excessive or showy spending.
