A woman reportedly returned from attending a friend’s owambe party only to discover that her husband and children had moved out of their rented apartment while she was away.
According to reports shared online, the family had been struggling financially and had accumulated two years of unpaid rent. Their landlord was said to have issued a final warning, leading the couple to discuss reducing expenses and saving whatever money they could.
The husband reportedly pleaded with his wife not to travel for the social event, stressing that the family needed to conserve every available naira. However, she insisted on going, explaining that she had already bought her aso ebi and did not want to disappoint her friend.
While she was away during the public holiday period, the couple’s children were reportedly involved in an incident at home. Their eldest child allegedly poured hot water on her younger sister while trying to prepare a meal.
The injured child was rushed to the hospital, and the husband reportedly left work immediately after attempts to reach his wife proved unsuccessful. The child was later discharged after receiving treatment.
Amid the situation, the landlord allegedly gave the family 48 hours to vacate the apartment. With little time left, the husband reportedly sold his motorcycle, borrowed money from his brother and secured a smaller apartment in another area.
With the help of neighbours, he packed up the family’s belongings and relocated with the children before his wife returned.
When the woman arrived back from the party, she reportedly found their former apartment empty and locked. She was said to have begun asking neighbours if anyone knew where her husband and children had moved.
