A Nigerian man has shared a viral account of an unexpected experience with an Uber driver that has sparked widespread reactions online.
According to the man, known as @Kecyy on X (formerly Twitter), what began as a routine ride escalated into a series of surprising events during a trip last month.
He explained that the driver unexpectedly stopped at a filling station to purchase ₦5,000 worth of fuel, a move that caught him off guard. In response, he went further by paying to fully fill the driver’s tank, estimated at around ₦70,000, and also gave him an additional ₦50,000 as a gift.
Despite the generosity, the entrepreneur said the arrangement continued the next day when he booked the same driver to take him to the airport for a 7am flight.
However, upon arrival, the driver allegedly demanded twice the agreed fare, citing peak-hour conditions. The request reportedly left the passenger shocked and frustrated.
He later took to social media to express his disappointment, noting that while it wasn’t about the money, he felt the situation was a missed opportunity for a better professional relationship.
The incident has since gone viral, with many users debating expectations around service, gratitude, and professionalism in ride-hailing experiences.
