Secondary School Reunion Donations Spark Debate as Woman’s Friend Exits Group Over Pressure

An X user has shared how the financial expectations surrounding a secondary school reunion allegedly pushed her friend to quietly leave the reunion group chat.

The X user, identified as @Olami-deeEbony, revealed that the reunion, scheduled for next month, has already attracted millions of naira in contributions from former classmates.

According to her, the minimum donation announced for the event was set at ₦100,000, while more than 10 individuals reportedly contributed ₦500,000 each.

She further disclosed that one anonymous donor contributed ₦2 million, while the group administrator allegedly instructed members to post evidence of their transfers in the group chat.

Explaining why her friend chose to exit the group, she wrote:

“The least amount paid so far is ₦100k. My friend quietly left the group immediately. She said, ‘So make I go drop receipt of ₦10k make una see me finish.’”

The post has since triggered mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians debating social pressure, class differences, and the growing trend of competitive spending at reunions.
