A woman has opened up about the emotional and physical challenges she faced in her marriage after childbirth, sparking conversations online about postpartum health, marital expectations, and women’s wellbeing.
In a viral social media post, the woman revealed that although her husband married her as a virgin and their intimate relationship was initially fulfilling, things took a difficult turn after the birth of their first child.
According to her, she began losing interest in sex due to health complications and emotional exhaustion.
“My husband married me as a virgin. It was after our wedding I found out how much he loves sex. At first, it was enjoyable. But after I gave birth, I lost interest completely. A month after childbirth, I got pregnant again and had to abort it,” she shared.
She further explained that attempts to manage her reproductive health became even more distressing.
“I later took IUCD, but I bled every day for three months until my mum forced me to remove it.”
The woman alleged that while she was still struggling physically, her husband became involved with another woman and was reportedly providing her with financial support.
“He was still having sex with me despite everything. I decided to stop until I was fine, then I found out he was seeing another woman and giving her weekly allowance.”
Seeking support from her mother-in-law reportedly made matters worse.
“When I told my mother-in-law, she said it was my fault and that it’s a wife’s duty regardless of how her body feels.”
Feeling unsupported, she said she eventually left the marriage with her baby, though her own mother has been urging her to return.
“I moved out with my baby, but my mum is begging me to return so my life won’t end up like hers.”
Her story has since triggered widespread reactions online, with many women sharing similar experiences involving postpartum struggles, lack of support, and societal pressure to endure unhealthy marriages.
Social media reactions:
“Postpartum is real. Women need care, not blame.”
“Marriage is not slavery. A woman’s health should matter too.”
“The mother-in-law blaming her is exactly why many women suffer in silence.”
“Cheating because your wife is recovering from childbirth is heartbreaking.”
“Women deserve understanding, proper healthcare, and supportive partners.”
The story has reignited important discussions around maternal health, consent within marriage, and the pressures many women face after childbirth.
