A young man has sparked reactions online after attributing Nigeria’s current economic situation to the prayers of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye.
The post, shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @maxvayshia, suggested that the country would have experienced a far worse economy if not for spiritual intervention.
In the viral post, @maxvayshia appeared to make a satirical remark about Nigeria’s economic hardship and rising cost of living, claiming that things could have been much worse without prayer.
He argued that despite current economic challenges, Nigeria would be in a more difficult situation if not for the prayers and spiritual influence of Pastor Enoch Adeboye.
He also compared the prices of basic commodities, suggesting that costs would have been significantly higher without what he described as divine intervention.
In his words:
“We don’t appreciate Daddy G.O Adeboye enough toh. Kerosene is N2,400. Gas is 2,400. If not for his prayers and talk with God over coffee, we would be buying them at N8,500 by now.
Thank you, Daddy.”
The post quickly attracted reactions from other users, many of whom joined in the satire.
One user, @Omoyeh, wrote:
“We’re not thanking him enough.”
Another user, @veeobix, joked:
“So N2,400 is the discounted price. Please tell Daddy G.O. to change the venue of the meeting to a bakery next time so bread price can drop too!”
@Mervyn_Ichie commented:
“Kerosene is 4k not 2400.”
Joining the conversation, @SaintAbuchi said:
“We should be giving him subsidy appreciation award at this point.”
@DJGentleZone added:
“Thank you Daddy.”
Meanwhile, @dzeh_nom joked:
“Just imagine he doesn’t drink tea with God, e for reach 10,000.”
Another user, @Gwaska32231163, wrote:
“Abi o jare… baba Dada.”
@Samuel_sleek66 commented:
“Daddy deserve all the awards from igwe.”
@ciscomilli added:
“Na Daddy wey dey pamper.”
However, not everyone agreed with the sentiment. @RajiAbass247804 criticized the claim, writing:
“Lol! Does this happen in America where I live? Hell no! These so call men of God in Africa are all liars!! So you believe all those nonsense?? Hmmmm you will definitely die poor.”
Supporting the joke, @Inviiiin wrote:
“I agree with you. He’s been the one holding down the inflation all the while… If not for him ehn, we would have been buying fuel for 10k/ltr and gas for 12,500/kg.”
The exchange has since generated widespread engagement, with many users treating the original post as satire while debating the role of faith, leadership, and economic realities in Nigeria.
