A Nigerian man has opened up about the sacrifices he made while dating his ex-girlfriend and how the painful breakup changed his perspective on relationships.
In a post shared on X, the man identified as @sleektru revealed that during his relationship in 2022, he gradually sold off several valuable household items, leaving his apartment almost empty.
According to him, within just seven months, he downgraded from an iPhone 12 Pro Max to an iPhone XS Max and sold his 55-inch television, fridge, sound system, three air conditioners, water dispenser, and vacuum cleaner.
He said the only major appliances left in his home were his cooker and washing machine, describing his sitting room as “so empty.”
“I downgraded my 12 Pro Max to XS Max. I sold my 55-inch TV. I sold my fridge. I sold my sound system. I sold 3 ACs. I sold my water dispenser. I sold my vacuum cleaner. I was left with my cooker and washing machine. My sitting room feels so empty,” he wrote.
The man, however, disclosed that things took a positive turn after the relationship ended. He claimed that just three weeks after the breakup, he recovered from his losses after spending time praying and fasting on a mountain.
Reflecting on the experience, he admitted it had made him more careful about the people he allows into his life.
“Since then, I’m always careful of any girl coming into my life, be it friend or relationship. One month with you is enough to know the spirit energy you bring into my life.”
The post has since gone viral, attracting over 230,000 views and sparking conversations about love, sacrifice, financial decisions, and the emotional impact of relationships.
