Police Defeat Bandits and Rescue Abuja Kidnap Victims

The Invasion of Senator Musa’s Residence Was Not An Assassination Attempt, According to Police

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command rescued three people who were abducted by armed bandits in Abuja on Tuesday night.

Sunday Babaji, the Commissioner of Police, confirmed this in a statement released to the media on Wednesday.

He stated that the command’s quick response in an aggressive manhunt for the perpetrators resulted in the rescue of three victims and the recovery of firearms and ammunition, including one AK-47 rifle and 25 rounds of ammunition.

Armed bandits attacked Arab Road Extension 2 in the FCT’s Kubwa district yesterday and abducted at least eight people.

One of the kidnapped victims was a serving Youth Corps member simply identified as Adenike. The force stated that its officers began investigating the incident at the request of the Commissioner of Police, Sunday Babaji.

According to the command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, who provided an update on the rescue, preliminary investigation revealed that around 7:30 p.m. on December 6, some armed criminals entered the Kubwa Relocation Estate and shot two victims, one Abel popularly known as Oshodi and another Abdulwahab.

“The suspects left the scene with four victims possibly to avoid arrest by the approaching police response team deployed to the area on quick intervention,” Adeh said.

“The two gunshot victims were rushed to the hospital for medical attention, but one of them, Oshodi, could not survive and was confirmed dead by the doctor, while Abdulwahab is still being treated.”

Meanwhile, the CP urged calm, noting that the command had since deployed intelligence and other operational assets to beef up security in the Kubwa area and surrounding areas.

Babaji assured that investigations had begun to identify the suspects and bring them to justice in order to determine their mission and motives.

He urged the public to be vigilant and report any suspicions or suspicious situations as soon as possible to the following numbers: 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653, and 08028940883, while the Public Complaint Bureau Desk can be reached at 0902 222 2352.
