A Nigerian lady has stirred widespread reactions online after recounting how a date ended on a sour note when the man she went out with refused to pay for her Uber ride home.
According to the lady, identified on X as @Amy_Beke, the man reportedly spent ₦150,000 on food and drinks during their outing.
After the date, he allegedly asked if she would accompany him to his home, but she declined, explaining that they had only just met. The man reportedly respected her choice.
However, tension arose when she asked him for money to cover her Uber fare home, and he refused, describing the request as inappropriate.
She expressed disappointment over the situation, stating that she had to pay for her own transportation before blocking him afterward.
“Then I asked him for some money for my Uber and he refused and said it was inappropriate. Really? How’s that inappropriate? I had to book my own Uber back home and I blocked him afterwards.”
Social Media Reactions
The story quickly gained traction, with many users divided over whether the man was wrong.
Celine Chinchin: “How does going on a date equate him paying transport for you, if he bought food of 150k he will still pay your transport?”
Ineye Oscar: “Give us location make we go confirm if it actually happened because some of us are very truthful.”
Osita Promise: “As you blocked him, what next??”
Emmanuel Obina: “You get luck he’s a gentleman if nah me you go pay your 75k.”
Mixed Opinions Online
The incident has sparked conversations about dating expectations, financial responsibilities, and entitlement in modern relationships.
While some believe a man should ensure his date gets home safely, others argue that paying for an expensive outing does not automatically make him responsible for additional costs.
