A Nigerian lady’s post about the circumstances surrounding her mother’s death has stirred concern and debate on social media.
The lady, identified as @TalkswithAkwa on X (formerly Twitter), recounted how her mother allegedly became ill after repeatedly picking up money that had been left on the ground at her brother’s construction site.
According to her account, her mother would often find cash scattered around the premises whenever she visited. Believing it was suspicious, she reportedly picked up the money and burned it on several occasions.
The lady claimed that shortly afterward, her mother became seriously ill. Despite efforts to seek treatment and intervention, her condition reportedly worsened until she eventually passed away.
Sharing the story online, she wrote:
“My mom fell ill just because she picked up money that was dropped in my brother’s compound where he was building. Each time my mom goes to the site she will see money, she will pick it and burn it. She became so sick we did all we could and still lost her. So sometimes the money in your compound wasn’t a mistake. It was intentionally dropped.”
The post has since generated mixed reactions, with some users expressing sympathy and belief in spiritual explanations, while others questioned the connection between the money and her mother’s illness.
