An X user has sparked widespread reactions after sharing the unusual way his brother handled being scammed of ₦1 million by someone he trusted.
The user, @udemeAkpan01, recounted that his brother was defrauded by a close associate who was later tracked down and apprehended.
Rather than pursuing punishment or legal action, his brother reportedly made an unexpected decision. He told the man to keep the money and repay the debt through work instead.
According to the post, the scammer spent six months running errands and carrying out various tasks to make up for the lost funds.
Over time, the arrangement evolved into a professional relationship. The man now manages the logistics aspect of his brother’s business and has reportedly maintained a clean record with no incidents of theft or dishonesty.
Sharing the story, @udemeAkpan01 described it as the most unusual debt repayment arrangement he had ever witnessed.
“My brother said punishing him would’ve cost him an enemy forever. Instead, he bought himself a devoted man for life. Still the strangest debt repayment I’ve ever witnessed till date,” he wrote.
