A man’s emotional story has gone viral after he revealed how a seemingly romantic “cake date” with his then-girlfriend turned into a shocking betrayal.
The man, identified as @heysantos_83 on X (formerly Twitter), explained that the idea of the date came from his girlfriend, who picked him up from work and took him to a bakery.
While there, she reportedly told the baker they were planning their wedding and even mentioned a ₦900,000 budget for the cake. According to him, this allowed them to sample cakes for free under the impression that they were serious clients.
He recalled that the experience felt genuine at the time, and he had no reason to question her intentions.
However, just a week later, her behavior began to change, leaving him confused and uneasy.
The truth came crashing down when he unexpectedly ran into the same baker. During their conversation, she casually asked about the wedding cake delivery, assuming he had already received it.
Shocked and unaware, he pressed for more details, only to learn that his supposed “fiancée” had returned earlier with another man—introduced as her brother—to finalize the cake design. The cake had already been picked up days before.
Seeking clarity, he contacted her best friend, who confirmed the devastating reality: his girlfriend had gotten married—without him.
The revelation left him deeply heartbroken. Reflecting on the aftermath, he shared how the experience took a serious toll on his mental health, revealing that he had to undergo therapy to begin healing.
“You have no idea what I went through. I used to stand under the shower for an hour straight, letting the water pour over me,” he wrote.
The story has since sparked widespread reactions online, with many expressing shock, sympathy, and disbelief over the level of deception involved. Others have pointed out the emotional impact such experiences can have, emphasizing the importance of honesty and communication in relationships.
