A Nigerian man’s story has gone viral on social media after it was revealed that he was deported following 12 years of living abroad illegally, only to return home and build a thriving business.
The story was shared on X by user @diokpaigbo, who recounted how the man spent more than a decade overseas without legal status while consistently sending money back to support his family in Nigeria.
According to the post, the financial assistance he provided over the years played a crucial role in sustaining his relatives, who reportedly would have faced severe hardship without his support.
Despite eventually being deported, the man refused to give up. After returning to Nigeria, he ventured into business, and the enterprise has reportedly grown into a successful venture.
The post read:
“It isn’t foolish. I know someone who spent 12 years illegally but was able to send money home to family. That family would have rotted away if it wasn’t for him. When he was deported, he started a business and is now doing very well.”
The story has since generated widespread reactions, with many Nigerians sharing different perspectives on migration, sacrifice, and success.
