A woman’s hidden wedding plans were unexpectedly exposed after her friend mistakenly congratulated the boyfriend who reportedly sponsored her relocation to the United Kingdom.
According to the viral story shared online, the drama started when the lady informed her close friend that she would soon travel to Nigeria to begin preparations for her wedding.
Excited by the news, the friend allegedly decided to privately message the woman’s boyfriend — the same man said to have financed her move abroad and continued supporting her financially while she lived in the UK.
Believing he was the groom, the friend congratulated him and asked how the wedding plans were going.
However, the conversation reportedly took a shocking turn when the man replied:
“Which wedding? With who?”
Confused by the unexpected response, the friend quickly sent screenshots of her earlier chats with the woman to prove she was not lying.
According to the narration, the friend claimed she had no idea her friend was allegedly planning to marry another man behind her boyfriend’s back.
Shortly after the screenshots were sent, the woman reportedly began calling her friend repeatedly after realising her secret had been exposed. The friend claimed she received more than 200 missed calls within a short period.
The incident has since sparked widespread reactions across social media, with many users debating trust, loyalty, financial support in relationships, and the complications that sometimes arise in long-distance romances.
Some commenters sympathised with the boyfriend, arguing that he had been unfairly deceived despite supporting her abroad, while others criticised the friend for getting involved in a matter she did not fully understand.
Others also pointed out that similar relationship controversies involving overseas partners and hidden engagements became increasingly common online throughout 2024, often leading to emotional confrontations and public drama.
