A lady has shared a hilarious memory from her secondary school days, revealing how an attempt to impress her crush during morning assembly ended with her spending the afternoon doing manual labour.
According to her, the incident happened during a school assembly while the principal was addressing students.
Wanting to stand out in front of her crush, she quickly raised her hand after assuming the principal had asked a question.
The principal immediately called on her to respond. Feeling confident, she stood up and gave an answer, only to realise moments later that she had completely misunderstood what was happening.
Recalling the embarrassing moment, she said:
“Back in secondary school, I wanted to impress my crush during assembly.
So when the principal asked a question, I raised my hand immediately even though I had no idea what the answer was. The principal pointed at me and said, ‘Go ahead.’ I stood up confidently and gave an answer. The whole school burst into laughter. Turns out, he wasn’t asking a question. He was calling for volunteers to clean the school compound after classes. That’s how I spent the afternoon sweeping leaves while my crush watched from a distance.”
The funny story has since sparked reactions on social media, with many users saying they could relate to doing embarrassing things in school just to catch the attention of someone they liked.
Others said the incident brought back memories of their own awkward secondary school experiences, with several people sharing similar stories.
