On Tuesday, there were fire trucks on the scene.

Five diesel tankers were caught fire today at Kwanar Yashi, Maiduguri road in Kano, in an unfinished building used as storage space.

The tankers held a total of 20,400 liters of diesel.

Aside from the tankers, the fire destroyed one Machine Lifan and three portable generators in the 200 by 20 ft space.

This was revealed in a statement signed on Tuesday by Kano fire service chief Saminu Yusif Abdullahi.

According to the official, three victims who were trapped by fire were rescued alive.

“Today being Tuesday 06th December 2022, our control room received an emergency call from one of our staff CFS Muhammad Musa Giginyu at about 12:25 noon”

“He arrived at about 00:29 hrs and reported an outbreak of fire at Kangon Saminu Farawa by Kwanar Yashi Maiduguri Road,” he said.

According to the spokesman, fire fighters were able to bring the situation under control as soon as they arrived on the scene.

According to him, the men “saved three diesel tankers, nine surface tanks and stop the spreading of the fire to other premises”

The fire was started by a spark from the portable generator used to transfer diesel from the diesel tanker to other surface tanks.
