A quiet residential estate has reportedly been thrown into controversy after a woman shared a shocking story on X about how a married man allegedly uncovered a long-running affair between his wife and their pastor through a CCTV camera installed in his home.
According to the viral narration, the man had initially installed surveillance cameras after noticing that generator fuel and small amounts of money kept disappearing from the house.
What reportedly began as a routine security measure later exposed what many online users described as a painful betrayal.
The woman explained that the husband worked offshore and was often away from home for weeks at a time. Neighbours reportedly admired the family, describing them as peaceful and respected within the estate.
The incident allegedly unfolded after the man’s work trip to Uyo was unexpectedly cancelled due to poor weather conditions. Rather than return home immediately, he reportedly spent the night at a friend’s place and later decided to check his CCTV feed from his phone.
According to the account, he was shocked after seeing someone enter his home around 11:17 pm. The visitor was allegedly the family pastor — a man said to have dedicated their last child and who frequently referred to the woman as “my daughter.”
The narration claimed the husband initially tried to convince himself that the late-night visit might have been related to counselling or church matters. However, things allegedly took a darker turn after footage from the bedroom camera appeared on screen.
The storyteller said the man reportedly spent the rest of the night replaying the footage in disbelief before sending it to two close relatives for confirmation.
The situation allegedly escalated after one of the relatives forwarded the video, leading to its circulation across multiple WhatsApp groups by the following afternoon.
The leak reportedly triggered intense reactions both within the church and online. While some condemned the pastor for allegedly betraying the family’s trust, others criticised the decision to allow private footage to spread publicly.
According to the viral claims, rumours later surfaced that the alleged affair may have lasted for nearly three years. The pastor was also accused of offering marriage counselling to the couple during the same period.
The church was reportedly said to have suspended the pastor after the scandal surfaced, while claims also emerged that his wife left with their children.
The woman at the centre of the controversy allegedly moved out of the estate after public attention surrounding the incident became overwhelming.
The narration further claimed the discovery deeply affected the husband emotionally, with reports alleging that he stopped attending church and struggled to trust people afterward.
One statement attributed to him has particularly continued to spark reactions online. After someone allegedly told him that “God exposed them,” the man reportedly replied:
“Exposure doesn’t remove the damage.”
