
A medical doctor, Dr. Ere Siana Sintei Ogbachi, has died from complications following childbirth after delivering triplets at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital (NDUTH), Okolobiri, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
According to reports, Dr. Ogbachi, an obstetrician and gynaecologist, developed serious health complications shortly after the delivery. She was subsequently transferred to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa, where she was admitted into the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Despite ongoing medical intervention by specialists, her condition reportedly deteriorated, with her oxygen levels continuing to fall until she was pronounced dead in the early hours of Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at about 2:45 a.m.
Her death was confirmed by her brother, Meshack Sintei, who shared details of her final moments in a Facebook post on Wednesday, April 15. He noted that medical teams made sustained efforts to stabilize her condition, but were ultimately unable to save her.
Dr. Ogbachi was a registrar at NDUTH, a member of the Nigerian Medical Association, and an alumna of Niger Delta University. She is survived by her husband and the newborn triplets.
