The All Progressives Congress candidate for state council, Adeleke Adeyinka, was killed, and the Ogun State Police Command has announced that it is looking for her killers.

In the wee hours of Saturday, Adeyinka, a candidate for the councillorship seat of ward 15 in the state’s Abeokuta South Local Government Area in the upcoming November 16 LG elections, was allegedly shot and killed by suspected cultists.

According to reports, the attackers arrived in an unmarked car, opened fire on Adeyinka at close range, and then crushed his head with stones to make sure he was dead.

Adeyinka, 40, was reportedly employed by a transport union in the state capital of Abeokuta, specifically in the Panseke neighborhood.

Omolola Odutola, a spokesman for the command, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on Saturday and stated that the police had opened an investigation into the killing. She also mentioned that they were still working to apprehend the suspects who were running.

Adeyinka’s body has been returned to his family, according to Odutola, who verified that the man was killed by cult members.
