
A tragic incident has reportedly claimed the life of 26-year-old Ghanaian lawyer, Araba Tettery, after Ghana’s dramatic 1-0 victory over Panama at the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to reports, the young legal practitioner was watching the match with friends at a hostel in Bomso, near the campus of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology when she suddenly collapsed during the celebrations that followed Ghana’s late winning goal.
Eyewitnesses said she was immediately rushed to the university hospital, where medical personnel reportedly performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for about 45 minutes in an effort to save her life. Sadly, she was later pronounced dead.
The incident reportedly occurred shortly after Ghana secured a dramatic 1-0 win over Panama thanks to a stoppage-time goal from Caleb Yirenkyi, sending Ghanaian supporters into celebration mode worldwide. The result was widely reported by major international media outlets.
