Adeboye Calls for 90-Day Deadline to Defeat Terrorists

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adeboye, has urged the Federal Government to take more decisive action against insecurity, suggesting that security chiefs should be given a 90-day deadline to eliminate terrorist threats or step down from their positions.

Speaking on the country’s security challenges, Adeboye said the situation should be treated as a national emergency, stressing the need for swift and measurable results from those responsible for safeguarding lives and property.

“If I was asked to make suggestions, I’ll say quietly to our government, move fast and say to our security chiefs, ‘get rid of these terrorists within 90 days or resign.’”

His comments come amid ongoing concerns over persistent attacks, kidnappings, and violent incidents affecting communities in several parts of Nigeria. The remarks have reignited discussions about the effectiveness of current security strategies and whether stricter accountability measures should be imposed on security agencies.

The proposal has generated mixed reactions among Nigerians. Supporters argue that setting clear targets could improve accountability and urgency within the security architecture. Others, however, contend that counterterrorism operations involve complex intelligence, logistical, and operational challenges that may not be resolved within a fixed timeframe.

Adeboye’s position adds to the broader national conversation on insecurity, a subject that has frequently drawn reactions from religious leaders, civil society groups, and citizens seeking stronger responses to violent threats across the country.
