Traveller Shocked After Discovering Bedbugs in ₦30,000 Hotel Room

An X user, @Mikeliberation, has shared a disappointing experience after spending ₦30,000 on a hotel room, only to discover it was infested with bedbugs.

According to the user, the incident occurred after attending a school party and struggling to find transportation home late at night. Unable to secure a bus, he reportedly borrowed money from a friend to complete the cost of lodging at a hotel located near an expressway.

After checking in and settling down for the night, he said he slept without noticing anything unusual. However, the following morning took an unexpected turn.

While preparing to leave, he noticed a few bedbugs crawling around the bed frame. Curious and concerned, he decided to inspect the bed more closely.

“Early the next morning, I noticed a few bedbugs moving around the bed frame. I lifted the bedsheets, but everything looked neat and there were no bedbugs in sight. Then I lifted the mattress and discovered that it was torn underneath. Inside the tear, I saw bedbugs,” he recounted.

The discovery left him frustrated, particularly after considering the amount he had paid for the room.

Before checking out, he said he carefully inspected his clothes and removed several bedbugs he found on them.

“I became really sad when I remembered how much I had paid for the room. I checked my clothes, removed the few bedbugs I found on them, and left the hotel angrily,” he added.

The story has since sparked discussions online about hotel hygiene standards and the importance of thoroughly inspecting accommodation before settling in.
