A man has sparked widespread online discussion after lamenting what he described as the steady decline of genuine love in modern relationships, blaming mind games, materialism, and social media pressure for the shift.
According to him, many sincere lovers are being forced to adopt toxic dating habits just to survive today’s relationship culture.
“Y’all are turning real lovers into players. Relationships have become mind games,” he said. “Some of us didn’t break up because of cheating or violence. Some relationships ended because of genotype, family issues, and long-term concerns about the future.”
He stressed that not all breakups are caused by betrayal, noting that some couples separate after difficult but responsible conversations about compatibility and future consequences.
The man criticised what he described as the rise of love bombing, emotional manipulation, and unhealthy competition in dating, saying meaningful conversations have been replaced by an obsession with money, luxury items, and social media appearances.
“Everything is about bags, wigs, money, and Instagram highlights now,” he lamented.
He also condemned the growing trend of people entering relationships merely to enjoy expensive dinners, explore new restaurants, or create content for social media, describing modern dating as increasingly transactional.
According to him, many people now “use” others for benefits rather than seeking genuine emotional connections.
He added that men and women are quick to stereotype each other—labeling men as jobless or women as gold diggers—without taking time to understand one another.
The man warned that if the current dating culture persists, meaningful relationships and lasting marriages may soon become rare.
