Fiancé Vanishes After Convincing Woman to Take ₦1.5M Loan, Later Revealed to Be Married with Children

A Nigerian woman has shared a heartbreaking experience online after her supposed fiancé allegedly disappeared shortly after persuading her to take a ₦1.5 million loan for their wedding—only for her to later discover he was already married with two children.

The story, shared on Facebook by Fegor Chime, details how the relationship began smoothly. According to her, they dated for about six months before he proposed marriage and suggested they open a joint savings account to prepare for their wedding.

Trusting him, she agreed, and both of them began saving. While he reportedly contributed small, irregular amounts, she consistently saved from her salary and eventually put in about ₦420,000.

Things escalated when he allegedly convinced her to take a ₦1.5 million loan from her workplace, assuring her they would repay it together after marriage. The loan is now being deducted directly from her salary.

She later grew concerned after being unable to reach him for four days. His phone was switched off, and she was told by one of his friends that he had travelled to another state.

However, the situation took a shocking turn when she reached him on Facebook Messenger. He allegedly told her to forget him and move on, revealing he was already married with two children and had only been in the area for work.

In her emotional words, she expressed devastation and confusion, saying she felt lost and overwhelmed by the betrayal.

Reactions Online

The story has triggered strong reactions across social media, with many users expressing anger, sympathy, and disbelief:

Some commenters described the situation as “calculated fraud disguised as love,” urging her to report the matter and seek legal advice.

Others questioned how someone could maintain a six-month relationship without revealing a full marital status.

Several users focused on financial caution, warning others to avoid joint financial commitments without legal documentation.

A few sympathized deeply, encouraging her to prioritize emotional recovery while sorting out the loan burden.

What stands out

Beyond the emotional betrayal, many online observers highlighted the financial manipulation involved—especially the push for a large loan under the guise of shared wedding plans.

The case has since become another cautionary tale circulating online about trust, financial transparency, and due diligence in relationships.
