“Fear Turned to Relief”: Lagos Lady Recounts Scary Encounter on Agege Pedestrian Bridge

A social media user has recounted a frightening yet surprising experience after climbing a pedestrian bridge along Agege Road in Lagos.

Sharing her story on X (formerly Twitter), the lady explained that she initially panicked when she noticed a group of men she described as looking “rough” on the bridge. Overcome with fear, she considered turning back immediately.

However, her anxiety quickly eased when the men calmly reassured her and told her not to be afraid. Despite their friendly response, she admitted that she still handed them the little cash she had on her, just to be on the safe side.

She wrote, “Climbed the pedestrian bridge along Agege Road, saw some rough guys and my heart dropped. 😭 I wanted to turn back immediately. 😭 They were so nice and told me not to be afraid. I sha gave them the cash with me make dem no collect my phone.”

The unexpected encounter has since sparked mixed reactions online, with many netizens sharing differing opinions on safety, profiling, and life on Lagos pedestrian bridges.

Ugosimba commented, “Lol they’re nice ke🤣🤣🤣🤣 the money you gave them saved you o.”

Kanebi added, “That was a very wise thing you did there…when confronted by those kinds of people, just obey and be nice. It could get ugly if u claim to be tough.”

Desmond noted, “If e reach your turn, no settle boys na. But, on a serious note, Lagos State govt needs to do something about these guys now.”

Abiodun shared, “Not all of them are crazy as people thinks. Even thou you didn’t give them the money they wouldn’t have done anything to you.

“Now trust me when ever you pass that route again and they see you? They will hail you till you board any transportation you want to.”

Saheed said, “That’s true pedestrian bridges in Lagos are very scary cuz some tugs have turned it to a home @followlasg needs to do something about it.”
