A Nigerian lady has ignited intense debate on social media after sharing a shocking marriage story involving her UK-based brother—an account that has left many Nigerians stunned.
In a viral TikTok video posted by a user identified as @sommica, the woman narrated how her brother met his wife on Instagram while living abroad. According to her account, the pair chatted online for about six months before he returned to Nigeria and met her in person for the first time.
She said things moved rapidly after their physical meeting. Within one month, her brother reportedly proposed and married the woman. Despite the fact that she already had a child from a previous relationship—whom she had at a young age—the man allegedly accepted both mother and child without hesitation.
After the wedding, the couple planned to relocate to the UK together. However, due to delays in processing the woman’s travel documents, she stayed back in Owerri while her husband travelled ahead to make arrangements abroad.
While he was in the UK, the woman reportedly told him she wanted to move to Abuja for a change of environment. Despite the fact that she was still schooling in Owerri, the man allegedly agreed. He continued to send her money, fully catered for her child, and even opened a shop for her to support her financially.
Trouble, however, allegedly began when the woman invited her secondary school ex-boyfriend to Abuja. The man, said to be a known errand runner in Owerri, was reportedly being flown in and out, showered with gifts, and financially supported.
The secret allegedly came to light when the ex-boyfriend openly bragged during a gathering, claiming his ex-girlfriend was funding his lifestyle. He reportedly backed up his claims by showing photos and videos as evidence.
When confronted on the phone, the woman allegedly admitted to everything. Her husband reportedly instructed her to pack out of the house before his return to Nigeria. Instead, she was said to have sold off household items and disappeared—allegedly eloping with the ex-boyfriend.
The story has since triggered massive reactions online, with many social media users describing it as a painful lesson on trust, haste, and the dangers of rushing into love without caution.
