A Nigerian woman has triggered intense reactions online after opening up about a marital crisis following a tragic accident that wiped out key members of her husband’s family.
The story, shared anonymously via a Facebook post by Auntie Momoza, revealed that the woman’s husband lost his mother, sisters, and grandmother in a fatal car accident while they were returning from a funeral.
The heartbreaking incident left behind four young children between the ages of 2 and 6, with no immediate relatives to care for them.
According to the woman, her husband decided to take responsibility for the children by bringing them into their home. However, she strongly opposed the idea, explaining that she was already struggling to care for their own child and could not handle four additional kids.
Instead, she suggested that the children be taken to an orphanage or placed with distant relatives.
The disagreement created a deep rift in their marriage. She revealed that her husband chose to leave their home and move back to his family house to raise the children himself.
Since then, communication between them has broken down. She claims he no longer takes her calls and only sends money every Friday, leaving her confused and emotionally distressed.
She ended her post by asking if she was wrong for refusing to accept the children into their home.
“Did I do anything wrong?”
Reactions Online
Support for the Husband: Many people argued that the man did the right thing by stepping up for his late relatives’ children.
“Those kids are his blood. In African culture, you don’t abandon family like that.”
“Your husband showed responsibility. Not every man will do that.”
“Honestly, if he abandoned them, people would still drag him.”
Support for the Wife: Others felt the woman’s concerns were valid, especially considering the sudden responsibility.
“Four extra kids is not a small thing. That’s a whole new life.”
“People are judging her, but are they ready to raise five kids overnight?”
“She didn’t say no out of wickedness. She was overwhelmed.”
Mixed Opinions: Some took a middle ground, blaming both sides for poor communication and lack of compromise.
“This needed discussion, not ultimatums.”
“Marriage is partnership. Both of them handled it emotionally.”
“They could have tried a temporary arrangement first.”
Critical Takes: A few were more blunt in their criticism.
“Suggesting an orphanage when their uncle is alive is harsh.”
“If the roles were reversed, would she accept her own nieces being dumped?”
