A woman has sparked emotional reactions online after recounting the heartbreaking story of her former neighbour, a once-thriving banker whose life reportedly spiraled downward after losing his job.
According to her narration, the man was financially comfortable when he met and married his wife, providing fully for the family while she remained unemployed.
However, things reportedly changed drastically four years ago after he lost his banking job following the birth of their third child.
Despite the sudden setback, the man allegedly did everything possible to keep his family afloat, taking on several low-paying jobs, including cleaning houses and schools, just to provide for his wife and children.
In a bid to keep his children in school, he reportedly secured a partial tuition discount through one of his cleaning jobs at a private school.
Sadly, the prolonged stress, financial burden, and pressure are said to have taken a severe toll on his health.
Last week, while working, the man reportedly collapsed and was rushed for medical attention, where doctors diagnosed him with high blood pressure and partial stroke.
The woman shared that seeing him on his hospital bed was devastating, as he reportedly broke down in tears over his struggles.
She also alleged that throughout the hardship, his wife refused to seek employment or contribute financially, insisting she was not prepared for suffering.
In her words:
“My former neighbour was working in a bank when he met his wife. He was doing very well financially, and they got married. The wife was not working because the man could provide everything. After the third child, four years ago, the man lost his job.”
“Last week, the man collapsed while working, and he woke up with a partial stroke. The doctor said he had high blood pressure, which resulted in his condition. The man was just crying on his hospital bed. Wives, kindly support your husbands.”
The story has since triggered widespread conversations online about marriage, partnership, financial responsibility, and the importance of mutual support during difficult times, with many stressing that family burdens should never rest on one partner alone.
