Tension has reportedly gripped a residential compound after a woman confronted her neighbour over repeated late-night requests for household items.
The incident, said to have happened earlier this week around 10 p.m., came after a string of visits in which the neighbour allegedly requested everyday essentials ranging from salt to a phone charger.
According to the resident, the latest interruption involved a request for two eggs and half an onion, marking the fourth similar visit within the same week.
Usually accommodating, the woman explained that exhaustion finally pushed her to set boundaries.
“My neighbour knocked on my door at 10 PM. She wanted two eggs and half an onion. This was the fourth time this week. I usually don’t complain, I just smile and give it. But last night, I was exhausted, so I told her calmly to stop coming that late because it was becoming too much.”
What was intended as a simple request for personal space reportedly escalated emotionally when the neighbour burst into tears, apparently interpreting the complaint as personal rejection.
“Her face dropped immediately, and she started crying. She said, ‘It’s just an onion… I didn’t know you hated me this much,’ then dropped the eggs and walked away. Now things are tense, and she avoids me.”
Since the confrontation, residents say the atmosphere within the compound has become noticeably strained.
The situation has sparked conversations about the delicate balance between neighbourly kindness and personal boundaries, especially in shared living environments where frequent interactions can easily lead to misunderstandings.
Many observers note that while generosity helps build community, repeated dependence without consideration for timing can create frustration, making honest communication necessary—even when uncomfortable.
