The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has demanded that the Minister for Labour and Productivity be fired immediately, accusing him of complicating the impasse between the government and ASUU.
Professor Chike Ugwuene, Chairman of ASUU, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike, MOUAU, made the demand during an ASUU rally at the university, accusing Ngige of “divide and rule and pro-rata payment of salaries.”
He was disappointed by the Minister’s inability to help resolve the ongoing dispute between the union and the Federal Government.
According to Professor Ugwuene, the Federal Government has no regard for lecturers, as evidenced by the government’s refusal to respond to ASUU demands.
