An unsettling video that has gone viral on social media depicts an African American woman being verbally assaulted by a man whose romantic advances she had respectfully turned down.
The video, which was posted by the woman herself, shows how the man quickly changed from admiration to aggression after she refused to talk to him.
She accompanied the post with a caption expressing her frustration and discomfort:
“He approached me saying oh you’re beautiful blabla bla. I said I’m not interested. Did I just get harassed? I hate man. Then he started insulting me like a baby because I declined.”
In the video, the man is heard lashing out with a string of degrading remarks:
“Who are you? Are you God? Are you Miss USA? You think because of iPhone 13, you are so cute? You got anxiety man, calm down, listen to good music.”
His body language and tone swiftly changed from one of admiration to one of hostility, a trend that many women online have recognized as harassment and entitlement.
The encounter has been widely criticized on social media, with many users citing it as another instance of how some men become hostile when their advances are turned down.
